What Is Laughing Gas?
Laughing gas is a colorless, sweet-smelling blend of gases. When inhaled together through a small mask placed over the nose, the gases create feelings of calm and relaxation. Some patients describe feeling giggly or silly, which is why it is called “laughing gas.” The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recognizes its usage as a safe, effective technique for treating kids’ dental anxiety.

What Is IV Sedation?
A board-certified anesthesiologist will provide intravenous (IV) sedation in our office and monitor your child throughout their procedure and during the recovery period after the appointment. IV sedation is sometimes recommended for children who:
- Are very anxious
- Have a strong gag reflex
- Are unable to cooperate during dental treatment
- Are undergoing a long or complex procedure
